Blog 47 - Monday, April 27, 2020

There will only be ONE (1) blog this week! No school Friday :)

Rumours are swirling about a GRADUAL re-entry back to school.

However, school will be entirely OPTIONAL.

What are your feelings about returning to school?
How could social distancing be maintained?
Would a September return be better?

What do you think?

Explain.

  1. I feel like we should not be going back to school yet because if there arw still cases, school could be the exact thing the virus needs to become big again. If we did go back though, I don't see how we would be able to social distance. Our hallways are really small and jampacked and the classrooms have up to thirty people in them at a time. I just think that a september return would be a lot better.

  2. I'm really getting bored of staying home everyday and I really want to go back to school to see my friends because I haven't seen them in over a month expect on social media and FaceTime. I don't think it that it's possible to social distance while in school because the hallways are so small and the desks are very close together.I think that we should just wait to return to school when health professionals say that it is safe for everyone.

  3. I don't think that it is a good idea to re-open schools because our school hallways are very small and it is pretty much impossible to keep our distance at all. The only way to re-open schools is if we have half the capacity of the school but even than it will still be the same. I think a September return is better because by than this will all be over and we will know that it is safe to go to school but now if they send us back there can be a second wave of the virus and everything is going to need to shut down again which will be crazy. I don't think there should be any rush to this.

  4. I don't think returning to school is a good idea. Our school is very crowded. We have very small classrooms and hallways. It is not possible to social distance at our school. Although I do want to go back to school to get my shoes, I think waiting until September is a better option to keep everyone safe.

  5. I think its about time that we go back to school and finish off the year even if we dont learn everything we were supposed too. There are many ways scial distancing could be obtained but since our school is very small it may be hard. What I think we should do is have a small portion of the school go in on one day and then the other day, we can work on things we got in class at home. wearing masks could also help so if anyone is sick it will prevent from spreading. Although kids and staff that have things like asthma or any other sickness, should no come to school. ONly going back in semptemer is a good idea too but i feel lik for kids who wanna go back and parents that want their kids to go back now should be able to if its possible.

  6. Personally I don't want to go back to school because I like being able to wake up and do all of my school work where I woke up. With all social distancing going back to school would be hard because there is just not enough room in classes because being 2m apart is impossible. Returning in September would be beneficial to the school and to lower the amount of infections.

  7. it would be cool to go back to school, to see my friends, but other than that I'm fine with not going back to school. to maintain our social distancing, we just have to do what we are already doing. I'm currently writing this blog in the afternoon of Monday, and the government has actually confirmed that we are going back to school in September, so clearly the government thought it was the right approach, but elementary school will re open sometime in may.

  8. I do really want to go back to school because i really want to do something and get out of the house. I want to go back for the rest of the year to see people. I think social distancing can happened if we stagger the grades and not make everyone go back at the same time. I think it would be really bad if we start another wave because then it will ruin our summer. I know some provinces have cancelled the rest of the school year but personally I do want to go back to school but I do think its better if we go back slowly

  9. I really do want to go back to school, but I don't think that's such a good idea. I don't think social distancing can be maintained only because our hallways in school are very crowded and I always find myself bumping into someone. In my personal opinion, I think going back to school in September would be better because it gives us a better chance of fighting this virus.

  10. I want to go back to school but, to only see my friends because I miss them. I don’t think we should go back though because there are still cases going around and it doesn’t look like it’s getting any better. I think that if we did go back, we wouldn’t be social distancing because the halls are very crowded and we’re in classrooms with at least 20 people. I think going back to school in September is a good idea because then, we have more time to reduce the amount of cases and hopefully, they’ll find a cure

  11. I want to go back to school to see my friends and teachers but at the same time I don't want to because it still is dangerous with the coronavirus no matter what age you are. You can still infect other people and sometimes it is killing younger people. I think it will be very difficult to maintain social distancing if we go back to school because lockers are right next to each other, hallways are always crowded and you're always brushing shoulders with other pretty much. Also classes are big you have around 30 people in each class and some people sit right next to each other and the desks are touched and it's really not the most sanitary place you could be. I think September would be better to return to school just to give time for the virus to calm down and it will show the people who aren't social distancing that this is very serious and not a joke.

  12. I miss school but the thought of going back to school at this time is very dangerous and put everyone at risk. I honestly dont know how social distancing can be maintained because like it cant be maintained during school. Like not everyone can stay 6 feet apart the whole day and like its just gonna be a whole mess for the teachers. I think a September start will be much better for safety precautions because by that time corona wont be as bad hopefully and they will find a cure for it.

  13. Although I wish we could go back to our normal lives and schedules, it's really risky to send us kids back to school. To be honest, I don't really think risking the safety and health of teachers and students, which could possibly lead to their parents and grandparents, is worth one month more of school. Although I wish we could go back and say goodbye to our teachers and friends, I understand why they have put these measures in place, and why they have cancelled this school year. Social distancing will probably be hard to keep at school, but there are certain things the governement can do to keep those rules in place, like having maximum 15 kids per class, etc. I hope by September this virus will be long gone. It sucks that we have to end our year like this, but I comprehend that we are doing this for the health of the people around us, and ourselves.

  14. I would really like to go back to school so I can return to my normal routine. However, I believe this is just too risky and not worth it. I think a September return would be much better because the number of people infected would go down. In the Elementary schools that are opening, I think it will be very hard to keep a social distance, especially for the little ones. The adults could try and keep a distance, but the kids are going to be excited and run right up to their friends. I think opening the schools is a huge mistake.

  15. I actually want to go back to school now because i am really bored at home and i want to see my friends and some of my teachers again. Although I don't think they should reopen the schools in May because there are still a lot of new coronavirus cases coming out everyday and re-opening the schools will just increase the number of cases because a lot of people will start taking public transport again which is very risky. And if schools reopen, it will be a very large gathering of people which will not help in social distancing.
So, i don't believe there is any way to maintain social distancing while going to school. And that's why I think a return in September will be way better since by then, the number of cases of coronavirus will hopefully start to decrease which won't make the situation as bad as it is right now. Therefore, it will be safer for everyone.

  16. I actually wouldn't mind going back to school because it is better than being with my parents all day, however I don't see how social distancing could be maintained because there are so many people in one building that it will be pretty impossible to satay far apart. All the students get out of class at the same time so there are always tons of students in the hallways at the same times. I'm not sure if September would be a better return because it depends entirely on if the virus gets better or worse.

  17. I want to go back to school, but I don't feel like social distancing will be maintained if there are a lot of people at school. The only way I'd see myself going back to school was if there were like certain days where people would go to school so that there isn't a large number of people at school, but I doubt that would happen. I think that a September return would be better.
