Yes, I do think that Canada made the right decision in not participating in this summer's Olympic games. I think that they made the right choice because during this period of time athletes won't be able to train because everything is closed. I think that the corona virus will still be around during the time of the Olympics this summer so it's better to play it safe. I think that it will get postponed and if it does Canada will be participating. If I was the president of the Olympic committee I would cancel the games until it's a safe time to have a public gathering again. I would cancel until further notice because you can't postpone it by many months because it's supposed to be in the summer.

DeleteI do think that Canada took the proper precautions to protect our athletes. Although the Olympics are an internationally known program, the committee did what was best. If our Canadian athletes went to the Olympics, caught COVID-19 and then brought it home, there could be a lot more spreading of the virus, which would not be good at all. If I was the president of the Olympic committee I would postpone the Olympics until further notice, until things start to get better.

DeleteI think that Canada made the right decision to not participate in the Olympics. Because coronavirus is a very contagious disease so it’s bad for the athletes and the audience as well. There are a lot of people that come and watch the olympics and even if one person in the crowd has the coronavirus, everyone will have a chance of getting the COVID-19 as well. There is also a risk to the athletes because, first of all, they need someplace to train, and right now, every gym and swimming pool is closed so they wouldn’t have a place to train and they too will have the chance of getting the coronavirus.
ReplyDeleteIf I were the president of the Olympic community, I would cancel the Olympics because right now, the coronavirus situation is not getting better, so nobody knows how long it will take to get the situation in control and start recovering. For example, some countries like Italy have been badly affected by the coronavirus so it will take awhile for them to recover. So according to me, right now the best decision for everybody is that the Olympics should be postponed till the situation has recovered fully.
I do think that Canada made the right decision but at the same time it's really sad. I think this because now, more Canadians wont get the coronavirus from travelling and it wont affect their performance either if they catch it. If I were president of the Olympics committee, I would postpone the Olympics because since they are in the China area, it is dangerous for the athletes as well as the audience because they're going too and that means that there will be a whole lot of people in one place which is dangerous because of the coronavirus. I think they should postpone it for these reasons but definitely not cancel it though.

DeleteI think that Canada made the right decision by not letting canadian athletes participate. Canada was the first country that said they ere not going to participate and after Australia said they were going to do the same. I think that more country in the future will be doing the same if Japan does not postponed the olympic games until july 2021. I would do the same thing if the games would have been kept the same dates. I would wait to see how the virus i was doing to let them participate in 2021. If i was hosting them, I would wait to see all the charts because i would not want my athletes to be at risk and i wouldn't want other people coming into my country who are sick and infected by covid-19.
ReplyDeleteI think that Canada made the right decision but at the same time I find that it was a really hard decision to make. Canada is keeping everyone safe and not making them travel anywhere which gives them a higher chance of catching the virus and than bringing back to Canada and give it to everyone else and the virus will be really big in Canada. If i were the president of the committee I would just do what they did with the euro cup and postpone them to the next year and it will be the same thing but just one year later which changes nothing.

DeleteI do think that Canada made the right decision because it would be horrible if one of the athletes got sick with COVID-19 or even died. If I were president of the Olympic committee I would temporarily postpone the activities, because there could be a chance that the Corona Virus gets under control in the next month or so, but there is also a chance of it getting far worse than it is already.

DeleteYes I do think that Canada made the right decision because they are trying their best to keep everyone safe even though it might not look like it. If I was president off the Olympic Committee, I would postpone the Olympics to when all of this would end because if we didn’t, it would bring a much higher risk of someone getting the viruses (if it’s still there).

DeleteI think the right choice was made even if none of the athletes would be affected by the virus itself, they will still be able to transmit it. If I was the Olympic president I would ask every participating country if they wished to stay in the Olympics this summer or not, and if over 60% wish to stay, the Olympics will still happen. If under 60% wished to stay, the Olympics will be postponed until there is no longer an epidemic.

Deleteyes, I think Canada made the right descion to drop out of the olympics. This virus is spreading very easily and who knows wether it will still be going around during the olympics so its better to take precautions now. I would have waited a bit longer to see what was happening with the virus and if it would be gone by then. I would postpone them until the virus was over because lots of people enjoy the olympics and there not very often.

DeleteI think Canada made a good decision to drop out of the Olympics, mainly because of the Corona virus. The virus is spreading very quickly and we need to keep it from spreading and by dropping out of the Olympics, the athletes will have less of a chance of getting the Corona virus. If I were the president of the Olympic committee, I would completely cancel or postpone the Olympics so that the virus doesn't spread at all to anyone more.

DeleteI think that Canada made the right decision not to participate in the Olympics. Covid-19 is spreading very fast and it would be terrible if anyone who is participating caught the virus. The virus is extremely contagious and we need to be careful, extremely with big events like the Olympics. I think that they were right to postpone the Olympics for this year because we have no idea when the virus will be completely gone. I also don't know how the athletes will train. But, at least if none of the athletes train they will all have a disadvantage so they will be equal in the end.

I'm sure that the athletes that have been training for years are very sad, but it is for the best. It is better for everyone to continue to stay home. It is better for them to stay home and not participate then to go ro the Olypics and get Coronavirus.

DeleteI think that Canada made the right decision of postponing the Olympics because of the virus. They only made this decision because they were looking out for our best interests and they don't want this virus to spread anymore then it already has. At this time it is best for everyone to stay in quarantine. I would have done the same thing if I were the president of the Olympics Committee because it's best for everyone.

If I was the the committee person I think I would postpone the Olympics to 2021, the president of FIFA postponed EURO 2020 to 2021 because of the virus so I think the Olympics should do the same. If I had to chose I definitly would postpone the whole tournament.

If I was the organizer of the 2020 Olympics, I would delay it to 2021 because of the potential risks accosiated with sending a lot of people to a small crowded area. It's not worth getting hundreds of people infected just so other people can have entertainment.
ReplyDeleteI think that Canada made the right choice to not participate in the Olympics this year. The virus is spreading quickly so it's important to take precaution. The last thing you would want to do is train your whole life to not be able to compete due to a virus. It's a good decision for the athletes and their health. If I were president of the Olympic committee I would postpone them for around 1-2 years. This is better than cancelling them because it still makes anticipation for the summer games without discouraging the athletes and all the hard work they put in for their sport.

DeleteI think that Canada definitely has the right idea getting out of the Olympics this year because people from all over the globe will be coming to participate in them and there will probably be a few that have the virus. It's especially dangerous because it's happening in Tokyo which is so close to where the virus started in China. If I were the manager of the Olympics I would postpone them for at least a couple of months until this thing blew over or maybe even cancel them altogether. There's too much of a risk that someone would get it.

DeleteI don't think Canada made the right decision because the olympics are still quite a while away and the pandemic might be solved by that time. I wouldn't cancel the Olympics because like I said there in a while and the problem might be solved by then at most I would postpone it, and if the virus is still a big problem at that time I would cancel the games but hopefully that won't happen.
ReplyDeleteYes they made the right decision because their athletes could die or sick from the coronavirus and that wouldn't be good for canada or anyone. If I was in control of this I would definetly postpone it because of the reasons I just said before. I wouldn't cancel though.

Plus if they do get the virus or anything they could transfer it back to canada and it is not safe at all. If I was in control of all of this I would most definitely postpone it because it is just too risky.
ReplyDeleteCanada definitely made the right decision to not participate in the Olympics this year. It's spreading a lot and there would be many more cases if Canada competed. If I were in charge of the Olympics I would cancel them and do them next year when hopefully this virus is gone. If the Olympics remained as it was many athletes would catch the virus.
