Blog 33 - Wednesday, February 19, 2020

There will only be ONE (1) blog this week!

Think about ALL the rules you have to follow at home and school.

Why do you feel these rules are in place?
What are some of the consequences if you don't follow the rules?
Does the consequence always fit the "crime"?

Do you believe that once the consequence is served, the behaviour changes?

Explain.

  1. I think that we should have rules because without them everything would just fall apart. Personally, the home and school rules are the dumbest of them all because they are so unnecessary and stupid. If you don’t follow the rules you can definitely get consequences like detentions. I think most consequences fit the crime but there could some exceptions. I think that behavior can change because everyone can change its just that they have to understand what they did was wrong and learn how they can change.

  2. I think that thse rules are placed so that I don't go around school beating up kids and beating up teachers and with these rules that they have at school I'm not aloud to do that and if i do than I will get into ig trouble for doing that. It depends to what you do so if I beat up a teacher I will proabbly get expelled or get a really long suspension but if I do something like not doing my homework than I will just get a detention based on who the teacher is. I don't think that the consequence is always the "crime" because when a teacher gives us homework and we don't do it than we get in trouble like a deention and we have a due date for that but than when we do a test and we want the teacher to correct they are ale to take as much time as they want. The teacher's excuse is that they don't have tie but we don't ave time either because we have other importnt tests and projects that we have to do for other classes than waste out time doing 3 pages of homework

  3. I think that rules are put in place to make sure that it isn't chaos. Without rules everyone would be causing trouble and no one would have rules to follow. The consequences can be getting detention or suspension at school. If the crime is judged fairly then the consequence will fit the crime, but if it is judged too harshly or not harsh enough, then it won't fit the crime. I think that people can change their behaviour after punishments. If someone gets a detention for not doing their homework, I'm sure the next time they will make sure to do it so they don't get another detention.

  4. There are rules in place every where you go all through your life. Rules are made to keep things in order. Without rules everything would be a mess and people would be doing whatever they wanted. If you don't follow the rules you may receive various consequences such as a detention, a suspension or if it's severe you may have to go to jail. I don't think the consequences always fit the crime because sometimes people can be unfair and give greater punishment then deserved. Most of the time the consequences fit the crime whether we like it or not. I think that if you give a harsh consequence to someone they will most likely learn from their mistakes and never do what they did again.

  5. Rules are essential to life because without them, society would be a total disaster and in chaos. Rules are made to be followed, and without them people could just do what they want. If I don't follow a rule at home, my mom or dad makes sure that I suffer the consequences so that I learn from my actions. Some consequences are being grounded at home, or being suspended or expelled at school if I don't follow the rules at school. Sometimes, the consequence can be too or not severe enough. So sometimes the consequences don't really fit the "crime". I think that only sometimes do people learn from their actions after they serve the consequences, because some people, once they have served the consequences, go back to doing the thing they weren't supposed to do. But if the consequences are harsh enough, they will most likely learn from their actions.

  6. I think rules are very important. If we didn't have rules, this world would a crazy, scary, and dangerous world. It would be a total disaster. If I break the rules I get in trouble. I don't tend to break the rules very often but when I do, my parents get upset with me. they say they are disappointed in me and they send me to my room or take my phone away. Sometimes a few other things that I can't remember. I think for rules that people break in school or in society, some consequences are either too harsh or not harsh enough. I think that once the consequences are served, the behavior, for the most of the time doesn't change because a lot of the time, the punishment is as harsh as it needs to be to actually get to the person and make them realize that what they did was wrong.

  7. In my opinion, rules are very important, otherwise our world would be completely different. Some consequences if you don't follow rules might be that you go to jail, get suspended/expelled or grounded. I think that the consequences in a crime don't always fit. For example if you're put in jail for whatever reason, people are mostly not going to change since the officers are treating them like animals. If you're put in a "cage" (cell) and basically get treated like a dog for so long, how do you expect people to be behaved if they are in an environment like that? If the prisoners get proper treatment and maybe a nicer place, then maybe once their punishment is over, there would be a change. Finally in my opinion, the change after a consequence depends on the way they're treated or, their surroundings.

  8. I think that rules are important and necessary, or our lives would be a mess and have no structure. If I don't follow the rules at school, I can get a detention or get suspended if it's really bad. If I commit a crime, I could get fined or even get arrested. I don't think that the consequence always fits the crime. Sometimes the consequence is way worse than the actual crime. But, most people learn from their mistakes when they have a really harsh punishment.

  9. I think that rules are all set in place for a reason. Whether that reason is good or not is not always clear though. The consequences for breaking a rule can range from nothing to life destroying. I believe that the consequences of breaking a rule is not always proportional to the crime that he/her committed. I believe that once justice is served, nothing changes. This is because the offenders are thrown away and carded for.

  10. I follow many rules everyday in my life. I think these rules are placed to have structure. Without rules, the world would be a mess. If you're allowed to do anything then many crimes would be committed. If you choose not to follow the rules, then there will be consequences, sometimes they can be small like a detention but sometimes they can be serious like being expelled. I think that the consequence is way worse than the crime most of time time. Most of the time, people can learn from their mistakes, but a harsh punishment can make you more angry and want to do certain things again.

  11. rules all have reasons to be put in place, but some of them just suck. I have to follow a lot of rules in my everyday life. If I don't follow these rules it just ends up worse for me. At my house, even if my brother does something it gets me in trouble even if I was never involved, my parents might not think that, but it does. In my opinion, very little consequences actually go with the "crime", it's always pushed to the next extreme in my opinion.

  12. I think all these rules are their to guide us and to help us figure out whats right and whats wrong. These rules are there to help us not to stupid things and make bad descions. Some consequeneces at school are mostly detentions, suspensions and expulsions and sometimes your teacher may give you a consequence for example cleaning desks. At home my consequences are usually only having my phone taken away. No, i dont think that the schools and my parents consequences always fit the crime. Honestly it depends on the type of person you are when it comes to behaviour changing after consequences. In my opinion, in our grade at school, especially the boys, there behaviours do not usually change after their consequence.

  13. I think all these rules are in place to guide us through that day and to make our school more proper and not a whole mess. At home I dont really have many rules. I mostly think my parents didnt make rules for me and my siblings because they trust us and we are proper kids in general. At school you can get suspended for breaking some rules or ,maybe get a detention depending on what rule you break. Sometimes it doesnt fit the crime becasue you might be breaking the rule for a good reason.

  14. I think all these rules are there to guide us and set us on the right path as we grow up. At home I don't have many rules except for when to be in bed and always clear the table. I don't think my parents make rules for me because they know I'm a well rounded kid and I most probably will mess up the things they tell me to do. Some of the consequences are most probably going to your room or getting your prized possessions taken away. Sometimes it may not fit the crime because your breaking a rule for a good reason. I feel as if the behavior doesn't always change.

  15. I think that rules need to be in place because if everyone did what they wanted everything would be chaos. There are many different punishments that come with breaking a rule, depending on what was done the punishment becomes more severe. Most of the time the punishment fits what was done but there are some punishments that go too far or not far enough. I think that even if the punishment is served the behaviour doesn't always stop, if it is a small punishment chances are the person will continue doing what they did.

  16. I think that rules need to be in everybody's life because it ensures that no one is hurt by someone and the world stays peaceful. Depending on where you are, the rules could be different. At school, you could get a detention, be suspended or even expelled. At home, you could be grounded, get stuff taken away, etc. Sometimes, the consequence is too severe for the bad stuff you have done, or it could be too easy. It all depends on who you are facing for the punishment. I think that for a lot of people, once they are punished, their actions will change and they will know what to not too. Some people don't work like that, however. Their punishment won't change a thing. Eventually, they just get used to the consequence.

  17. There are rules in place so people don’t go crazy doing whatever they want. If there were no rules in the society, people could do anything they want which is not necessarily good since it can involve murdering, sabotaging places and things could really get out of hand. That’s why some rules are necessary for things to stay peaceful. Although I do believe that there are some rules that make no sense and their consequences don’t always fit them. For example, at school I disagree with the no cell phone rule. Especially during the exams because sometimes I want to contact my parents and I can’t in the time between two different exams since we are not allowed phones. I also disagree with the consequences of getting caught with a phone because sometimes people just use it to check the time in case they forget to wear a watch and an after school detention doesn’t make sense for looking at your phone for just a second. I don’t believe that when consequences are served the behavior always changes because some people after being sent to jail want to get revenge on the person that got them to jail. Also I don’t believe that detentions in school work either because just sitting in a classroom for 30 minutes or staying home for a few days wouldn’t change the behavior of someone, they would probably continue misbehaving since sitting in a room doesn’t help.

  18. There is one rule that stands out for reficulous and it's the no phone policy. It makes no sense to me, there is no reason for that rule to be in place. But other than that we do need rules in our society so that we don't have people hurting, stealing, killing, etc.. from happening.I think that the consequence for breaking the law, going to jail, is good for self reflection on what they did to get there in the first place. It's a great way to punish criminals.I think that the consequence doesn't fit the crime. For example if someone commits homacide on 30 people, they should probably get a death sentance instead of serving a life in jail.

  19. if we dont have rules everyone would go wild and misbehave. Nobody would have any boundaries os everyone would do what ever they want. Which could be extremely bad. There are rules for a reason to make sure everyone behaves and does not do anything bad. I also dont like some rules but they are always made for a reason. You can go to community service or even prison if you misbehave. People that get in trouble dont always fix there problem after the first time.

  20. I think rules are really important, even though people don't like them sometimes. In a society where rules didn't exist, there would be chaos. Nobody would be civilized because they can do what they want. At home and at school, the rules are different from "law". Sometimes the rules are bad such as the phone rule at school. There is little good to come out of that and can only be dangerous, for example, there was an emergency. Not all the time when someone is punished(unfairly or not) they change. Sometimes they don't just to get the rule-maker mad.
