Blog 30 - Wednesday, February 5, 2020

This topic is FREE CHOICE! - I did not run out of topics :)

As a free choice blog, you could blog about whatever you want (except what we've already blogged about!)
If you want to go on a rant, go for it! If you want to blog about something important to you, go for it!

Be creative and write about something you feel important or something you would like to tell your audience. Write about something you are passionate about. GO OUTSIDE THE BOX!!!

You must remember your audience.  It is not simply me (Mr. Katz) reading this blog!
If you will be ranting about a certain individual, you need to leave their name out of this.
You could give them a pseudonym (example: Mr. Ed) or simply leave their name as anonymous.
Make sure your language is appropriate.  Do not go on swearing tangents!

  1. I don't like people. I find that hey can be very dumb sometimes and make stupid mistakes. Some people can also very annoying and don't know how to be around other people. An example is if you are in a store. Sometimes I am waiting in line and the person will be right behind. They don't know what personal space is.

  2. For this blog we got a free choice blog so I decided to write about free choice writing. I hate having to pick my own ideas because I can never figure out what topic I should use. I also think that it's really crappy that the teacher or whoever couldn't think of an idea to give, but instead made us pick our own.

  3. I personally don't like free choice writing, I find it very hard to come up with ideas, with that being said I decided to write about some of my biggest pet peeves. I hate when people chew with their mouths open because it's disgusting. I also dislike when people are rude, especially to adults. Lastly, I dislike writing topics in general about anything. I always need to have some kind of idea to work around because I can never come up with my own.

  4. For my blog I will be talking about why I quit gymnastics. I did the sport for 7 years in Lachine. I used to enjoy it but it was in french which I hated and I did not like the competitions. Over the years I started to hate it and never want to go because it sucks. My coach was kind of annoying so I wanted to leave. After I quit I did not miss it and I never want to go back. I now do boxing with one of my close friends and it's fun because it isn't in french. I'm glad I quit.

  7. For this free writing I will be talking about Kobe and Gianna Bryant because I think that when they passed away it had a big impact on a lot of people. First I'll start with Gianna Bryant, she had the potential to be one of the greatest WNBA players ever but than sadly passed away in a helicopter accident with her dad Kobe Bryant at the age of 13 years old which is very sad. Than there is Kobe who is a freaking legend and that a lot of people looked up to him for his basketball skills that h had on the court and for the things he did off the court. He also died in the helicopter crash on there way to Gianna basketball game with I think 7 other people. Kobe died at the age of 41. I can go on with this topic forever and write like 1000 words on it but I have to atop and one point. All I have to say is that Kobe was a legend.

Rip the goat and Gianna Bryant

  8. I never know what to talk about for free writes, and I always need a guideline because I can't think of anything to write. But, I guess I'll talk about my week so far. On Monday, I barely slept and woke up with a fever, so I missed the first two periods of school and went to the doctor afterwards. I couldn't keep my eyes open and I went to bed super early. I slept for almost sixteen hours and took another nap during the day. Yesterday I wasn't feeling well so I stayed home, and the doctor called me saying that I had strep throat.

  9. My topic is what I want my future job to be. There are quite a few ones that would be my primary ones but I also have backups in case the first ones don’t work out. The first thing I want to be is an actress. I’ve been in a couple plays where I played the leads and I really found a passion for acting. I found it so fun that you can play a different person who can either be similar to you or completely different from you. Another job I would want is something to do with music. I really love to sing and I play a couple of instruments so eventually producing my own music would be really cool. Lastly, one of my primary jobs is an interior designer. I have wanted to an interior designer since around the age of 6. I thought that it was so cool that just by decor and colours you can change a space so much. I’ve designed quite a few houses on a design program I have on my laptop and I could literally do that for hours. With the interior design, I would want to start my own business and have a builder so that we could get clients and build custom houses for them or renovate run down houses or just a simple renovation. The other job would just be a hairdresser but that's definitely not my number one dream job.

  10. My topic is going to be on why I quit Irish dancing. So, I did Irish dance for 8 years of my life. At first, I loved it. One class a week, easy peasy. Then, as of 9 years old, I would go to class five times a week, three group classes and two private lessons. Each group class was 3 hours long, and each private was an hour long. I loved it so much, and I didn’t mind the long hours of practice, stress, pounds of makeup, tanner on my legs, and wigs. I didn’t care about the five pound, 2000$, custom designed dresses straight from Ireland. I just wanted to dance. But as of 11 years old, everything changed. In order to win as a kid, all you had to do was go to class and have natural talent. But to win as an 11 and up year old, you had to go home after a 3 hour class and practice your corrections in your basement. I didn’t want to do that, why would I want to come home after hours of working out to work some more? Also, people became more competitive. My friends would talk about each other, as well as the parents about other kids to my mom. It all became so toxic so quickly. I learned to look past it and continue my love for dance. I started to not do so well at competitions when I wouldn’t practice at home after class, it left me heart-broken every time. I had invested so much time into that one activity, and I was getting nothing out of it. I had thought about quitting for a long time now, but because it had been so much of my life, I put it off so many times. So many of my friends were at dance, my mentors, people I only see because of dance, I didn’t want to leave it behind. Before this session started, my mom asked me again if I wanted to continue. The sport is incredibly expensive and time consuming, so if you are not 100% invested, it’s not worth it. I didn’t qualify for Nationals this year and the session hadn’t started, so if I wanted to quit, that would be the time. It took me a lot of thinking to make my decision, but in the end, it was an easy one. It put so much extra stress on me, and it was just so toxic. After quitting, I had a bit of an identity crisis. I looked around my room at countless trophies, medals and sashes I had won, and polaroid pictures of my friends and I at competitions. I finished my dance career on January 30th, the last night of the variety show. It was hard to pack my shoes away and take off my dress because it was the last time I would ever dance again. Since then, so much weight has been taken off my shoulders. I honestly couldn’t be happier. At my new sports and classes, whether it be Pilates or hockey (which I quit for Irish dance two years ago), I finally get a full body workout, unlike dance where I just worked my legs. Life has changed so much for me, but I am a better me now.

  11. So for this blog I will be talking about an experience I had with a dog. First of all, I really like dogs and they are adorable although, I never got a dog because I am allergic to their fur. So, because of this, I never got a chance to pat a dog because I never went to someone’s house that had a dog. And here’s what my first experience with a dog was like:
I was out in the school yard with my friends x,y and z and we were just walking around when we saw this cute black dog. She was far from us and it was adorable and was playing with other people in the school yard. But, suddenly, she started walking towards us and that’s when I realised that she’s the same dog that had chased one of my friends last year when he was doing the 12 minute run and at the same time my friend x said to y “ isn’t that the same dog that jumped on you?’’ and that's when I got REALLY scared. I tried to hide my fear until the dog came running towards us and especially ME! I got so scared that I started running in circles screaming hysterically. My friends were just standing on the side laughing at me and the owner was trying to control the dog. I had honestly thought that she would bite me and it would hurt a lot. After a while that the dog was no longer after me and stopped and I realised that she was only trying to play with me and she’d jumped on y for the same reason. After that experience I got kind of scared of dogs whenever they came close to me even though I know that they don’t want to hurt me. But yesterday the same dog came and this time, instead of freaking out, I stayed calm and I actually patted the dog! It was so soft and nice. So, I am not scared of dogs anymore because I learned that as long as I don’t freak out, they won’t run after me.

  12. I'm going to talk about Rodney Mullen. He's one of the most known skaters to ever exist. He invented the kickflip, treflip, nightmare flip and like a thousand more tricks, he's actually the god of skateboarding. and fun fact about Rodney Mullen, he has autism, and hes still one of the most iconic skater to ever roll on this earth. its said that he invented freestyle skating, i hate freestyle, I'm more of a street guy but that's OK. he's definitely my favorite skater, my favorite trick is a half cab flip, and he invented it. I've been skateboarding for almost seven years now and he has definitely been a huge influence throughout my journey in the skateboarding world.

  13. For my open blog, I want to talk about the odr (Outdoor rink). The outdoor rink is an activity that I do after school that I go to with friends. I have an outdoor rink around two minutes form my house, so I will usually go almost everyday. We will always play big hockey games, and have lots of fun. This is an activity we do in winter, and we usually play for a couple of hours.

  14. For my open blog, I will be talking about hockey. Hockey is my favourite sport and without it, wouldn't be the person I am. I play for Westlake bantam and I've been playing for about 3 years. Before, I used to play ringette for around 7 years but then I changed to hockey which was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Overall, hockey made me the person I am and without that sport, I can't imagine the person I would be today.

  15. For my free blog topic, im going to talk about soccer. Ive been playing soccer since I was 5 years old and at 8 I started playing competitively for Lakeshore. Today, I still play for the same team and I enjoy it very much. Soccer is my favourite sort, favourite thing to do with my free time and in all my passion. One of my favourite memories playing soccer was from 2 summers ago. In august, me and my team traveled all the way to play in the winning ground tournament in Sweden and it was an incredible experience. We made so many memories as a team and it was so much fun. We also got to lead a parade and got to a profesional game where someone from Canada, who we met privately at our hotel, was goalie. Finally another amazing thing about this tournament was that we became friends with many girls from Sweden.

  16. For my blog I will be writing about a show I recently finished called “Over the Garden wall”. It is a short animated show about two brothers who got lost in the woods and are trying to find their way back home. The show is slightly disturbing but the art is really good and all the characters have very unique personalities and a beautiful design. There is also some very nice music and valuable lessons are taught throughout the show. I highly suggest this show to anyone who likes erie of mysterious shows. Over the Garden wall is truly an amazing one of a kind show and undoubtedly one of my favorites.

  17. For my blog I will be talking about NBA 2k20. NBA 2k20 is a video game on the ps4 that is about playing basketball. there are multiple modes like MyCareer, MyTeam and multiple more, but I mostly play MyTeam and MyCareer. On MyTeam I have a 91 overall rated team which is very good and I'm pretty good at the game. My brother also likes playing the game, and so far he has spent a lot of money on it so that he could get some packs and upgrade our MyCareer player. Our MyCareer player is 84 overall rated and me and my brother like to go against other people, even though most of the time we get our butts kicked. That's all I'm going to be talking about because if I wanted to I could go on way longer than this.

  18. For today's blog I will be writing about what I want my future job to be and why. When I become an adult I want to become a vet. I have wanted to be a vet since I was 6 years old when I found out what a vet does for their job everyday. I want to be a vet because I can help sick or injured animals, and make them healthy and happy again, and because I get to surround myself with animals everyday.

  19. My topic is going to be about what I want to do for my future career. When I am an adult I would really want to become a doctor. I find there is something about saving peoples lives that is very cool and interesting to do for a career. I shouldn't be saying this but it also pays really well and I won't have to worry about money or any bills that are thrown at me.

  20. For this blog, I am going to talk about snow days. I love snow days because their so much fun, because it's always a big surprise, and whenever we find out that school is cancelled for the day,we get super excited. I usually spend my snow days at home relaxing, or hang out with friends and they're always super fun. Today I might just relax at home, because it's the perfect day to have a lazy day!

  21. For this blog I will be talking about my future job. When i get older i want to be a doctor because I want to be able to save peoples lives. I honestly think that this is the best job because it's such an amazing way to help people and give them the life they deserve. Plus it makes a lot of money so me and my family can live a nice life. This goal i've had since i was a kid is one of the main things pushing me to do well in school.

  22. For this free blog I will be talking about how competitive diving and how it changed my school life. I now have diving three times a week for two hours. I can't just do something on the weekend because I don't have a lot of time now to do homework. Also I have diving on the weekend for two hours. It's harder now also to get all my homework and projects done. I also get back at home really late so I don't have any time in the night to do my homework and its really hard to get everything done in time. But i get it done. I also love diving a lot and enjoy it so its worth the less amount of time to finish everything.

  23. For this blog I will talk about how snow sucks and is completely useless.Today there was a huge snowstorm, no school was awsome but every three or four hours I had to shovel snow.Every time after I shoveled, in a hour or two, all the work that I did and all my progress got covered with snow. It's extremely annoying and useless.Tommorow first thing in the morning I'm probably going to have to shovel snow again :).

  24. for my blog, I will talk about why snowdays are good and awesome. the first reason i think they are awesome, is usually it's a huge suprise when you wake up expecting to go to school and stuff. It completely changes your mood and turns your average boring school day in to a fun and relaxed day. It also gives you extra days to work on homework or something. the last reason i think snowdays are good, is because they are on school days and thats when my parents work. this means that i can do whatever I want because im home alone.
