What does Remembrance Day mean to you?
Do you think Remembrance Day will still be celebrated 50 years from now?
Recently, thieves have stolen poppy jars and poppies from multiple Tim Horton's restaurants.
Why are people so RUDE towards the Veterans who fought for our freedom?
Explain.
Remembrance Day to me means respect towards everyone who fought for our country. I am very grateful for everyone who risked their lives just so I could have a free life in Canada. In 50 years from now, I think people will still celebrate remembrance day, just differently. People may not take the same amount of time to respect everyone who has fought for our country. People may be rude towards veterans who fought for our freedom because they don't think it's important. Often times, people disrespect everything that people have done for them because they don't realize what their lives could've been without them.

DeleteToday is Remembrance Day, a very important day for Canada. For me, today is about celebrating the brave soldiers who fought for my country and people. It’s about remembering to be grateful for our freedom and that we woke up safe to go to school and work. Hopefully, Remembrance Day will still be celebrated in 50 years because even if the war happened a long time ago, and even longer in 50 years, it is still important to be grateful for everything that was accomplished and our freedom. I think people are stealing poppies because they don’t realise what today is about. They just think they are being rebellious and funny, even though they really are disrespecting a large of group of brave people.

DeleteRemembrance day to me means to respect the people who fought for our and other countries. It also means to be grateful for everyday I live and for everything I have. I think that in 50 years from now, remembrance day will still be celebrated, but maybe if there is another war in those 50 years they will celebrate it for them. The thieves probably don't know the importance of the people who fought for us or what their life would have been without the people that fought for us, or they just don't care about respecting the people that fought for us.

Remembrance day is a very important day. We should be thankful that we have freedom and no war. Also that soldiers fought for us and risked there lives for us and maybe died. We should also think about what these soldiers family's went through after there deaths. We should be thankful for the soldiers that left with a risk from there families. I think yes, well it at least should be. But all the veterans are very old and they might die and then the next generation will never here them speak. Maybe it's because it's to hurtful for them to celebrate this day because one of there family members or friend died.

This is because remembrance day celebrates not only the people who died in both world wars, but in all wars as well. I think that people are rude to veterans because they don't understand the sacrifice that the veterans had to go through.

DeleteToday is remembrance day! On Remembrance day we remember the people that fought in the war a long time ago. I think we do this for the respect of the veterans that fought in the war. Every year at at 11:11 we take a minute to think of those that we lost. This shows that we still remember what they did and are very appreciative towards them.

DeleteRemembrance day to me means honouring and thinking about, not just people who have fought for our country, but the people who have fought and lost their lives, or even lived through war and the ones who fought but were lucky enough to live. It’s about respecting them and remembering them. I'm not entirely sure if Remembrance Day will be celebrated in 50 years but I think that it should be. Although the kids then and even young to middle aged adults won’t maybe have known veterans, but there is definitely someone in their ancestors that probably fought and who knows, maybe even lost their lives. I honestly don’t know why people are stealing poppy's. I think that it’s stupid. I really don’t understand why people are so disrespectful towards veters, like they fought for their lives and ours. A lot of them actually lost their lives so why should you disrespect them when they saved our country?

DeleteRemembrance day is very important in our society. It not only means a lot here in Canada, but it means a lot to me, because I know people that have fought in the war for us. Remembrance day is about respecting the people that fought for us to be free and to live happily and calmly. I don't understand why people are disrespectful towards the veterans. It's really sad and so rude. To be rude to the soldiers who have fought for us is just really upsetting. I think this day should always be celebrated and I hope it will be, because it's a sign of respect.

DeleteTo me remembrance day is a day that we have to appreciate all the people that sacrificed there lives to save all of our lives for the future and that we can walk in the street and bike by ourselves without worrying if anybody is going to kill me or a kidnapper that is going to bring to some sketchy building and keep me hostage in there. I think that remembrance day should be celebrated in 50 years from now because those people would probably not even be here if it wasn't for the people that scarified there lives. I think that they are so rude about it because they want the world to be full of anger and no peace to the world.

This day is really important, because it is the day to remember the soldiers that fought for our country, and also just for everyone that fought for our country. Well I hope that remembrance day will still be celebrated 50 years from now, because we still have to remember the soldiers, and even if they are not here anymore, we still have to care about them and take the time to remember them. Well I think that it is not right to steal the poppies, because that is not respectful to the soldiers and everyone that saved our country. DeleteTo me Remembrance day is a day to remember all the soldiers that faught for us and that were there to keep us alive. It is a day to remember that. It is a day to remember that life is worth so much and just to be grateful for everything that life has to offer. I think Remembrance day will be remembered in 50 years because it has been celebrated for many years now and I don't think that will change. I think it's so horrible that some people have stolen the donations given at different restaurants and stores because that's just cruel.

Yes, I do think that it will be celebrated in the next 50 years because there might be different was in the future and we still need to honor the soldiers. Finally, I think people steal the jars because it is an easy way to get money since veterans are mostly old people and they cannot run.

They were there to keep us alive, so the least we could do is buy a poppy and have a two minute silence. I think that Remembrance Day will still be celebrated in 50 years but it will not be as important. Unfortunately, the longer it is from the war, the less we will remember. I do not have any family that fought in the war, but I still respect Remembrance Day. All of the people that fought for our country and made it so that we can live here today. I do think that we will be celebrating Remembrance Day in 50 years because we still need to remember what they did for us, and what they sacrificed to protect us. I don’t know why people think that they can do things like steal- in general, but especially to be able to steal things that honour our veterans. I also don’t know why people can be borderline disrespectful towards others who risked their lives for us, and why I they won’t spend a couple minutes honoring heroes.

Because if the soldiers would have not fought for our freedom, let me assure you, the world would NOT be the same. I think remembrance day will still be celebrated because World War 1 was a major event in history which will not be forgotten easily. Although in coming years it may use a bit of its importance as it is now. Because right now, we still have veterans telling their stories so all those memories are still fresh. But by then, the veterans will no longer be alive so there will be no one to tell its stories.

It shows me that so many brave soldiers are out there willing to put their lives on the line and as well as fight for our rights for our countries. I think that Remembrance day will still be celebrated fifty years from now and maybe even more. This tradition/holiday is to remind us about what happened during World War 2. This was a big part of our history. The fact that someone would have the nerve to steal poppy jars and poppies from multiple Tim Horton's restaurants is pathetic. I do think that Remembrance Day will be celebrated fifty years from now because it marks the end of a historical event and it is very important to remember all those who died for their country. I don't think that people stole popeyes to be rude to veterans, I think they stole them because it's an easy way to make money and they don't care about others or the effects their actions may have.
ReplyDeleteRemembrance day is a very important day for me and many others.One of my grandparents served in this war and has received a legion of honor for his brave and impressive acts.A legion of honor is the highest grade for military acts.I think that remembrance day will be celebrated for over fifty years, it is one of the most important days of today and will continue for many years.The reason people are sometimes disrespectful to veterans is because they aren't aware of what they did for us.If they didn't serve in the war we wouldn't have a world we can live in today.
ReplyDeletemy great grandfather was a top pilot during WWII and won multiple medals for his services. I hope that remembrance day will e celebrated for multiple years to come, but the way our society is going I don't have a lot of faith for it to continue being a tradition, I don't think that they will even have to do a minute of silence in a couple of years because of the way everyone is going. I think people are rude to veterans because they really don't have a clue what they did for our country and our world and our probably just jealous of how many people treat the veterans with respect and not those goons.

We should all be wearimg poppies but not steal them since they're pretty cheap anyways. Rememberance day will still probably be celebrated in 50 years but it would probably be more focused on the soldiers of our age. I genuinely don't know why people steal poppies and it is kind of sad.
